In this edition of the retro sci-fi art gallery I’m throwing in a few more 2001: A Space Odyssey pics (I know sometimes they’re photos and not paintings but they still carry the themes and colours from the era). There’s a few novel covers and also a few nice images from Ralph McQuarrie, concept artist of Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica fame.
If you notice from looking at the McQuarrie clothing designs as well as the 2001 stuff, you’ll see a similar colour scheme to this web site. I love the use of dirty oranges during this period – sort of late 70s.
